How To Stay Productive All Day

In today’s article, I’m going to share some amazing tips with you that I have picked up in my journey to stop our biggest enemy; procrastination. It’s not easy to win, but if you strive and battle it out, you’ll eventually come out a victor. In simple words; you’ll get more work done by organizing your thoughts and schedule.

We’re all distracted by one thing or the other. Be it family, friends, pets, or just laziness. However, since the world has become fast-paced, with more and more people pushing us unto deadlines, we might lose our focus quickly and abruptly and end up doing a lot less work than we had intended to achieve.

Nowadays, we’re all so attached to social media platforms that we forget our main work. A true businessman/woman avoids procrastination at all costs and focuses more on how they can achieve their goal. With these simple tips, you too can walk on their path and become a productive person.

So without further ado, let’s get right into it!

Eat Breakfast!

Eating a good and hearty breakfast which consists of protein, vitamins, and calcium will boost your mind and make you active. It will help you work more because if you begin work before eating anything, your brain will go like, ‘where is my food?’, ‘Let’s work later and sleep for a little bit…’

We don’t want that, do we? Therefore, eating breakfast will energize you, wake you up fully, and boost your brainpower so that you can easily complete your tasks! They don’t just say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s crucial for your body to get its nutrients as soon as you wake up and not starve it.

Create A To-Do List!

A To-Do list can help you sort out and organize your thoughts and tasks. It will help you become less anxious and you can schedule your plans around the tasks you have at hand. By making a To-Do list, you can know what to do and when or if you have any appointments or urgent meetings that you have to attend to.

You can make a To-Do list before going to bed or while eating your breakfast and sipping your hot cup of joe.

Pro tip: It’s always good to carry a small notebook and pen around with you so that you can jot down your ideas, thoughts, and reminders on it. I usually prefer using books rather than the phone because a phone’s battery can easily run out but a paper’s battery never runs out! 😉 (sorry, that was a bad joke!)

Learn To Prioritize Your Work

In the entire day, you’re sure to have many distractions such as your sister calling you to watch Netflix with her, or your friends calling you to hang out with them, or even your pet wagging its tail to pet it or play ball with it. But, what you need to do is place your palm in front of them all and shake your head.

That’s because you have more important work to do than binge-watch on your favorite shows (also did you know that Sugar Rush Season 3 has come out?! I’m already on the fourth episode haha) You need to prioritize your work and get more done in a short period of time, but if you keep on distracting yourself–even if it’s for a short period of time–you will lose your productivity.

So, it’s better to say NO than to regret the unchecked tasks at the end of the day.

Take Short Breaks

I use the 60-10 method where I work for 60 minutes and then take a 10-minute break. It’s a useful method that will surely help you finish your tasks at hand in no time. In your 10 minute break, you can either talk to your friends or family members, you can do breathing exercises, listen to podcasts or you can just watch a funny clip on YouTube or something just to get your mind distracted for that small stretch of time.

Once you get back to work, you’ll be surprised at how fast you can work! If you’re a beginner, you can start from 30 minutes and then prolong the minutes as you go on and study more.

This way, you won’t be stressed and you’ll always have a lot more breaks.

Jot Down Your Notes And Ideas

The internet has a plethora of easy to use and free tools that can help you achieve productivity in no time. Tools such as Evernote, Google Drive, One Drive, Trello, and Slack can help you organize your thoughts and notes in no time.

Avoid Checking Your Mail

When you’re at work, avoid opening your mails or even scrolling through them. This will break the barrier you have created for your productivity and may result in exhaustion, stress, and laziness.

Avoid Multi-Tasking

This is one of the most and vital points you need to keep in mind. Multi-tasking will exhaust you quickly as if you’ve just run on a treadmill and you have no water to hydrate yourself! It will stress you out, make you anxious, and may even slow your brain from functioning well.

Therefore, if you avoid multi-tasking and do each task one by one by giving it your entire attention, then you’ll most likely get the job done instead of keeping it at the ‘In Process’ stage.

So these were some of the tips and you can either use all of them or use any one of them; nevertheless, your productivity is guaranteed!

How To Wind Down On Sunday Night For A Great Start To The Week?

Your week has been busy. You cracked your neck and knuckles and you worked your butt off; be it as a 9-5 worker or a freelancer. You worked and your worked and now, your body is sour as if you have worked out for hours and your mind is fried; which as a result led you to apply the jam first instead of peanut butter (I don’t know how many of you encountered that situation but if you did, then girl, you seriously need to wind down)

What you need is a bit of a break and that can only happen once a week. So why not make that one day count? Why not make it special and all about YOU so that you can get your brain working again for the next week? Yes, you have work, I understand. We all do but trust me, doing these things which I’m going to list down will improve your productivity, make you less lazy, make you more focused, and maybe even make you a better cook! Just kidding, us writers are one of the best chefs you can find out there and all we read are recipe books, watched anime, or binge-watched on Zumbo’s just desserts!

Anyway, back to the point. Our brain needs to rest too and we should take care of it just as we take care of our pets. Our brain is our pet and I might sound crazy to you but believe me, you’ll be thanking me at the end of the post because this article will change your Sundays into fun and stress-free days!

Go To Sleep Early:

This way, you can feel more energetic throughout the day and get more work done.

Cut Out Caffeine:

Believe it or not, caffeinated drinks are our biggest enemy. Sure, it keeps our brain active but it also messes with our sleep pattern, preventing us from getting the 6-7 hours sleep which we desperately need for our minds to clog smoothly.

Set Up An Alarm:

Even if you’re not an alarm person, it’s better to set up a time and wake up at the first one or two rings instead of hitting snooze. It will also be a good habit for you in the future.

Enjoy A Meal:

With you being busy during the entire week, you’ll feel good to make a meal and enjoy it with your family. You can try making new dishes or help your family in the kitchen or maybe even go out to a restaurant and just forget about your work for a while.

Workout:

Working out is proven to make you feel less stressed so take out at least 15-20 minutes of your time to get your stiff body stretching and sweating!

Relax:

You can take a warm bath, go for a spa, or get your nails done. You can even just put on some music and dance your stress off in your bedroom (if you’re too shy) or enjoy a movie time alone, with your significant other or with your family! Sundays are supposed to be all about you so even if you think you have work, just remember that this day won’t come again.

You can even light up scented candles and read a book for a while with a cup of your favorite tea or coffee. You will feel really good and since you’re distracting your mind from working and being all lazy, you can get more work done starting next week.

Set Up Your Weekly Plan:

Take some time out to write down whatever you need to do during the entire week so that you won’t get stressed when a new week starts. This way you can also get more things done and check out all the stuff that you thought you didn’t have time for! Make sure to note down your errands, social events, appointments, and activities.

Doing the abovementioned things can help you start your week with a boost and positivity. You can be ready to jump at work without any worries and you will also be able to more productive and prevent yourself from procrastination.

You know there is one other thing you can do on Sundays and that is to head to my Etsy shop, PoetNextDoor, and buy a digital poetry print that you can hang in any part of your house!

So what are the things that you like to do on Sundays to start the week off right? Let me know in the comments!

My 13 Helpful Productivity Tips!

Have you ever just laid on your bed and stared at the sad blank wall? Or do you always end up slouching in front of the T.V and before you know it, an important hour of your life is already wasted. Well, if I’m right, then don’t worry because often than we think, we all do that. Sometimes our mind stops working. It loses its energy and no matter how much you try to do some activity, you just go and grab that packet of chips and soda. Many people might not care but it’s time for you to care because my belief is that each second in our life matters. “What we do now will help us for a better minute or damn, even future.”

That’s why, I have got a few tips that you can try to boost your brainpower and to get your lazy butt away from the T.V. So, keep away whatever junk food you’re holding and go through my list.

  1. Silence your phone. Don’t go to any of your SNS for a while. Just keep away that damn gadget. Trust me, it works. I always do it when I want to finish a chapter and it surprises me how swiftly I write a thousand words in half an hour.
  2. Take regular breaks. Take a little 15-minute break to cool your mind off. Make some green tea and get back right to what you started. Tip. Don’t leave your work unfinished. It’s not good for the mind or your deadline.
  3. Work in various environment. This is very helpful because generally, our minds tend to easily get bored being around a particular thing or place. Why not try going to a park or a coffee shop to release your creativity enzymes?
  4. Sit by the window. Researches have revealed that exposure to bright light helps us to regulate our sleep, boost our mood and raises our productivity levels plus, you get a good view.
  5. Get plenty of sleep, exercise and healthy food. Seven hours of sleep, thirty-minute exercise and avoiding junk food will just get you on the right track. Don’t diet just avoid.
  6. Listen to music. Not the hard rock kind but the low and serene ones. It’s said that music reduces stress and eases anxiety also it helps us to concentrate better so you better buy a new earphone if you don’t have one.
  7. Track your time. It really helps in the daily basis of your life.
  8. Don’t check your email until you’ve worked for an hour. That might be quite a challenge for some of you.
  9. Write tomorrow’s to-do list, tonight. That way you can be ready for anything.
  10. If a work takes less than a minute, then get up and do it now! Don’t waste time. It’s crucial.
  11. Don’t break the chain. Don’t stop what you’re doing and keep at it.
  12. Smile and be happy. Smiling can improve our mood and reduce our stress, even if you should fake it! Researchers have said that the more we smile the easier it becomes to think positively, shut out negativity, and, in turn, boost our productivity and creativity, which allows us to perform better at work and life.
  13. Eat Chocolate. Yes, consuming chocolate regularly has been found to help the brain function. But not too much, okay?

These were my few tips that I hope was helpful to you all. Normally it takes 21 days to form a tiny habit but much longer for a bigger one. However, if you put your mind to it, nothing can stop you, right? Nothing can stop you but you. So, don’t give up!

Breath, eat, relax and work.

See you in my next post.
