Tips for Ramadan | 2019

Before I begin talking, I just want to let you guys know that I’m so happy to be able to post on my blog again! A month ago, I attempted something, but it backfired, and my poor blog had to bear the consequences. However, with the help of WordPress support team, I was able to get my blog back and finally post again! I can’t thank them enough. They really helped me so much. I wish I could treat them to a cake or something haha. You guys missed me, didn’t you? I missed you guys too!

Anyway, now that I’m back in business, I’m gonna rock this platform again just like I used to! I kind of lack monetizing my blog… (just waiting for the money…) but once I have the cash in hand, I will kickstart my blog and I promise you that I will write even more interesting and amazing content. I want to share as much of my thoughts, knowledge and emotions with you as much as I can. I hope you guys will stay with me till the end and give me all your love and support because I need it badly.

Okay, so Ramadan has started and just like last year and the year before that, I posted ‘Ramadan Tips’. This year too, I decided to give you all a few beneficial tips that will help you make your Ramadan better and more rewarding and in control. Though this year might be tough for some people since the days are long and the nights are short. There’s a lot of time for Iftaar but only a couple of hours for Sehri. For those newbies who have just promised to fast this Ramadan, I hope the tips I give you will benefit you and I hope I get my reward from my Lord for helping you. Even if one of you read this, I’ll get my reward. So thank you for reading this and if you share this post, then you’ll certainly get your reward too! Isn’t that amazing? Why don’t you start your Ramadan by sharing this post with your friends and family? I know it’s not much, but it’s a start, isn’t it?

The first and foremost thing you must do is thank Allah, the Most High for giving you this month to repent and to change yourselves for the better. He kept you alive, He provided you but most of all, He gave you deen. He guided you to the right path and He promised you a place that will never perish (Paradise). Secondly, make your intention crystal clear and don’t go back on your word. Don’t let your inner desires stray you away from the right path or from the remembrance of Allah (Subhana-wa-Ta’ala). Once you’ve decided to change yourself, then you can’t and mustn’t turn back. Fight with yourself, know that you’re completely control of your decisions and put your trust in the Most Merciful. Make du’a to Allah to keep you, your family and the believers guided aright and make du’a to Allah to keep you firm in your faith.

Now that you’ve done those two things, it’s time to implement acts that will please our Lord, The Most Loving. Do you know what types of worship Allah loves? Not sure? Let me tell you:

  • Allah loves those who repent.
  • Allah loves those who read Quran, understand it and teach it.
  • Allah loves those who give in Charity.
  • Allah loves those who fast for his sake only.
  • Allah loves those who ask Him for help (even if it’s a pair of new jeans)
  • Allah loves those with good manners and behaviors.

Did you see? Allah loves the little things which we so deliberately forget. But, this Ramadan, let’s carry out these things and please our Lord. Let’s earn those rewards so that we won’t have any regrets on the Day of Resurrection when we see the scale of our deeds. Don’t we all want our good deeds to be heavy and our bad deeds to be as light as a feather?

For some of you who are well used to fasting, I’m pretty sure you will not read this post but for those who are looking for some tips that will ease their mind and shun the negative thoughts, then you’re in the right place! Here are a few tips that will help you, your family and your friends this Ramadan.

  • Have a Healthy Sehri
Sehri will be your breakfast, which means you must start your fast by eating a full and nutritious meal. Don’t forget to have your glass of milk, coffee or protein shake and eat a lot of eggs as they tend to keep you full and feeling energetic for a longer period.
  • Get Enough Sleep –
Ramadan is a time where we put out beloved technologies aside and turn to our Lord. We pray and read Quran all night and that kind of change will take some time for our body to adjust. Also, the best part about this Ramadan is that it’s vacation time! This is also the best time to teach your kids about Islam and gradually get them to start fasting as well. Be sure to get your 6-7 hours of sleep after Fajr and wake up feeling refreshed and ever ready to prepare for your Iftaar.
  • Make Lots of Du’a –
Ramadan isn’t just about fasting. It’s about hoping and trusting in Allah’s plan, it’s about praying for the right things, rewriting your destiny because Allah never ignores the prayers of a fasting person. This is your chance to ask for anything and everything (but it should be Halal, okay?) This is your time to pray and pray and pray for things you never knew you needed. You can also make a list of du’as so that you can pray smoothly without having to overthink or forget what you wanted to pray for.
  • Read Quran –Quran was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) on this month which is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. That’s why we are obliged to read the Quran as much as possible during this month. Quran is the Speech of Allah and it brings us closer to Him and makes us more beloved to Him so what more could you ask for? If you wish to complete the Quran this month, I suggest that you read 4 pages after every Salat.
    • Fajr – 4
    • Zuhur – 4
    • Asr – 4
    • Maghrib – 4
    • Isha – 4
    • And if you’re awake in the night, then you can read 2 or 4 extra pages. (Though it really depends on the type of Quran you’re reading. If it’s a Quran with a big font, you might have to read a few extra pages to reach your goal).
This way, you can complete reading the entire Quran within 30 days.
  • But, do not force yourself and do not stress your mind because no matter if you complete reading the Quran or couldn’t before Ramadan ends, either way, Allah Azzawajal will reward you and will be pleased with you. It’s not obligatory to finish the Quran but to read it continually, to understand it, to act upon it and to preach it to others.
  •  Watch Islamic Videos and Listen to Lectures –
This is a great way and time to attain more beneficial knowledge. There are so many amazing scholars out there that will help you understand the Quran and deen easily. Youtube is filled with such respectful             scholars so instead of talking or playing games, watching such impactful videos will revive your soul and mind.
  • Iftaar isn’t a party –
Many of us start cooking feasts as the time for Iftaar draws near. However, that is not right. Sure, you can look forward to Iftaar but gobbling up dozens of cutlets in one go isn’t healthy. Try to eat healthy food in small portions and limit the intake of sweets and juices directly. Eat slowly and mindfully and eat only until you feel that you’re full. Do not eat just because there’s a lot of food on the table and you gotta finish it before the prayer starts. Make sure to eat 2-3 dates as it’s a Sunnah to break the fast with dates. I love the feeling of eating dates after a long and peaceful day.It makes me really happy and It’s a feeling only the true believers will experience.

Do you know the du’a to after breaking the fast?

Dha’habaz-Zam-Ahu-Wa-batal-Lati-Ooruqu-Wa-Saa-Batal-Ajooru-In-Sha-Allah

  • Read Taraweeh/Tahajjud –
You can either pray Taraweeh or pray Tahajjud if you want to stay up all night and Glorify the Praises of Your Lord and Talk to Him. But I suggest that you pray Taraweeh and then when the last ten days of Lailatul Qadr nights arrive, you can then pray Tahajjud. It’s up to you, whatever you find easy. Before you begin praying Taraweeh, eat a fruit or drink milk so that you won’t have to worry about your stomach growling in the middle of your prayer. You can also eat a dried fruits and nuts as they are high in protein and will keep your mind active.
  • Give Charity –The more charity you do, the more Allah will Bless you. It’s as simple as that. Allah is Ar-Razzaq, the Provider, so don’t worry about the money and just Zakat without thinking. Allah will give you more than you gave others. Don’t ever stop giving in charity. Even in Ramadan and after Ramadan. Even if you smile at your family members or your friends, your neighbor or to an old man, it’s a form of charity which Allah will take into account.
  • Give Food to the Orphans, the Needy, and the Poor –There are so many people and children out there who are fasting, but they don’t have the means to break their fast. Help them and know that Allah is watching. Help them and earn greater rewards. Help them with a good intention and know that Allah will wipe your sins away. Trust me, you’ll feel much better and you’ll feel your soul cleansing and becoming pious each day.
  • Workout –Working out for just 10-15 minutes after your Taraweeh will keep you active throughout the night and will keep you feeling sound throughout the day. You can skip the workouts if you want and just eat healthily but even a 5-minute workout can and will do good to your body. Plus, you won’t feel guilty about eating an entire slice of pie.
  • Forget about your Phone –
I think this point is very important for kids and adults of this generation as phones have become our constant companion. They act as though they literally can’t live without them. That all they need is phone instead of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide. Nevertheless, take this month as an advantage, seize the phones and place them where no one can find or even guess. I’m just kidding though because we obviously need phone to communicate but avoid using your phone too much and concentrate more on Quran and Dikhr.
  • Drink Lots of Water –
Lastly, after you break your fast, increase your water intake because although you will feel active, your body won’t be able to do function properly unless you give it the missing oxygen that it needs. Also drinking a lot of water will prevent dizziness, nauseous, headaches and cravings.

I really hope these tips will benefit you this Ramadan In Sha Allah, and May Allah forgive you your sins, your mistakes, your shortcomings. May He, the Most Merciful, admit you into Paradise and save you from the Hell-Fire and May Allah accept your prayers, du’as, fasting and answer your invocations. May Allah bless this Ramadan, and May He make us among the righteous.

Ameen.

To Kim Jongin (A Poem)

Like every flower that blooms,
on a beautiful spring day,
i hope for a day when i will look into your eyes,
and make beautiful promises.

A promise which i will never break,
a promise that will remind us,
of how we finally came to be.

Recently, i’ve read something that made my heart beat rapidly,
i couldn’t help but enjoy a cup of ice cream,
and pray with much anticipation all night.

i want you to have a good life,
i want to give you love that no one ever was able to give you.
i will care for you endlessly,
i will make sure that you will never get disappointed by me.

Good days will come,
i’m certain of it.
days when we will hold each others hands,
and walk through the memory lane.

The seasons will change,
but my love for you won’t.
i’m waiting for a ‘i love you,’
and a ‘forever.’

I’m waiting for you,
my love,
my bear,
my one and only.

— Kim Jongin, let’s hope, okay?

Letter Of Advice To My Last Year Self

Dear last year self…

I know that you have gone through a lot, but you held on. You were patient with whatever came your way and you stayed strong. Most of them can’t do what you did. You are such a brave and wise person and I’m so proud of you.

I just want to say that you keep doing what you’re best at and leave everything in God’s hands. God is the best of the planners and He won’t ever make you feel sad. He knows what’s good and bad for you. He knows everything.

Just be patient and keep hoping because that’s what you’re good at. I know it hurts and sometimes you just wish things went your way, but remember; good things comes to those who wait.

I love you for having a strong mind and heart and never forget your Creator. After all, you’re living for Him and only for Him. These worldly things are nothing but play and you must work hard to please your Loving Lord.

Pray for every small thing and never give up. Even if your Imaan gets low, don’t worry because the devil will sometimes whisper unimaginable things to you. You must fight back and repent to God. You musn’t let the devil play with your mind. I know you can do it. You’ve done it before.

Pray. Hope. Trust in God. Repeat.

From, Your 2019 Self.

The Best Part of a Rainy Day

I love rains. It makes me feel creative. It makes me happy. Seeing the water splat on my bedroom window and listening to the droplets drumming on the concretes makes me feel something…It’s a kind of feeling that I can’t describe properly. Perhaps, it’s inspirational, or maybe it’s love. I don’t know, but I feel something.

And that’s the best part of a rainy day. You can feel so many emotions at the same time. You can recall and make so many memories.

You can make a cup of hot chocolate and read a good book.
You can write a novel; be it any genre because rain can be incorporated in many and any stories.

I wish rainy days just wouldn’t end.
My imagination reaches its peak when I stare at the unfocused world. At the dark grey clouds and at the abandoning streets.

It’s like the world has come to an end.
As if when I wake up tomorrow, I’ll be the only one awake.

Rains are beautiful. They give you a sense of hope, tragedy and a sense of impossibility and the unseen.

“Poets love rain, you know why?
because it makes them feel lonely,
and that’s when they take out their pen and paper.”

One thing to do today

Hello everyone.

I hope you all are having a great day. If not, then I apologize because I know, it sucks. You might be annoyed or angry or just feeling gloomy, but you know what? Its life.

If life doesn’t have any ups and downs, how can you discover new emotions? New things and new opportunities?

Everyday is a good day, its up to us how we handle ourselves and our surroundings.

Its up to you how you can control your anger, how you can forgive others and how you can be patient with the problems you are facing.

Eventually, problems will die. They are not everlasting. But your patience can be.

We are made strong. We can handle anything that comes in our way if we just stay positive and strive to achieve our dreams and our goals.

But to do that, you know what is the one thing you have to do now?

Its to be thankful to yourself, your family, friends, your surroundings and the way you’re living now. So many people wish to have a life like you, but here you are, all healthy and reading my post on your phone or tablet or laptop or whatever…

Be thankful to everything you have or get. Don’t be proud. Don’t be careless, but know the reality of things from everyone’s point of view.

Everyone has bad and good days, but think of all the things you have while others don’t.

Be grateful.

Smile like its your last day.

Thank everyone in your family for being there for you. Thank yourself for being strong and know that this life is temporary.

No point in worrying about small things, okay?

Have patience, pray, and everything will set on its own.

Perhaps, your time of happiness hasn’t come now, but one day—it can be tomorrow or an hour from now or after reading my post—your time will come to shine and to feel glad and to feel as if you’re on seventh heaven!

I hope you guys felt a bit motivated by this post of mine. I just want you all to stay happy, okay? Stay strong and don’t let anything break you down.

Peace neighbors,

See you in my next post~

Things that give me Hope

Sometimes, I lose creativity. I get all gloomy and irritated for no reason. I get all hyped up over little things and sometimes I just don’t know what I’m feeling or trying to feel.
But I’ve realized that its at that time, that seeing or understanding small things which we thought were trivial, gives us hope. It sparks our imagination, it banishes the darkness we were feeling and helps us smile, helps us become artistic and brings out the poet hidden within us.

Let me list a few things that give me hope when I’m going through that arduous stage.

My Gratitude List

You don’t need to be grateful solely for the big things. I don’t know if you believe in God or not, but if you do, then you need to realize that he has created you and given you so much; sometimes better than other people. You’re alive and breathing and that’s what you can ever be grateful for. You’re not out there in a war, fearing the outcome, but you’re here, in your home or your office and reading this post because you just happened to stumble upon it.

Trust me, this is not a lecture, and I don’t actually have the right to lecture any of you, but this is just a friendly discussion, an inspiring and motivating thought that might or might not change the way you think about your life, or your future.

Being grateful is difficult for many people. Be it on getting a new job with less salary or getting a second-hand denim jacket from your cousin. But think about it, so many people don’t have a job, and even if they do, you’re getting paid more than they will ever do. So many people don’t have clothes to wear, but you’re getting an awesome jacket even though you didn’t ask for it. Why then can’t we appreciate the little things? Is it that hard to smile and be happy with what we have? Yes, we’re struggling, but after hardship, there’s always ease, isn’t there?

Sometimes, I myself get frustrated with the things I want, with the way I want things to be, but then somehow or someway I get reminded that no, you’re living your life fairly well and that right now what you have is what you must be grateful for. Life has its up’s and down’s, but if we aren’t satisfied with our lives now, then we won’t be in the future either. It’s going to ruin our life, and the next thing you know, you’re on your death bed, depressed and guilty because you didn’t enjoy the little moments or weren’t grateful with the things God had already bestowed on you. Again, this is not a lecture, just my thoughts.

So, what can you do to be grateful? To feel contented? To be always smiling and not worrying about tomorrow or next week?

Well, I don’t know if you’ll heed my words or not, but what you could do, and what I often do, is make a gratitude list. You could do it every day, or every week, or every month, but you should do it because in our busy lives and occupied minds, we forget what we’re truly missing. The tiny elements is what will make our lives better, and trust me, you won’t regret it. Furthermore, there’s no harm in making such a list is there? All you need is a pen, a paper, and some alone time and you’re good to go!

As for me, I’m always cheerful and elated because I value the smallest of things that happen to me, be it a kind comment on Instagram, or a smile from my mom.
Here is my gratitude list that gives me the strength to never give up, to keep thanking God for giving me such a life and to strive to keep it that way or make it even better.

  • Tea in the morning with brown bread and eggs.
  • Scrolling through Kim Jongin’s photos.
  • Flowers that sway with the wind.
  • The smell of my cat, Ginger.
  • Witnessing the sunrises and the sunsets.
  • The heavy rains that drench me, the darkness that surrounds and gives me the urge to drink hot chocolate or coffee.
  • Learning lessons from the mistakes that I’ve made.
  • The people on Social Media who make us laugh, who listen to our daily affairs and who are ever ready to stay awake and talk about useless stuff.
  • Bear hugs from my sister.
  • Watching Movies/Drama’s and playing games with family.
  • A family night out that’s always unplanned!
  • Hot showers while it’s raining outside.
  • Recalling our previous accomplishments; be it big or small.
  • Being healthy.
  • A home.
  • Having grandparents. A loving family.
  • Understanding that its no use stressing over our lives and that if we just wait patiently, everything will eventually fall into its places.
  • Eating chocolates.
  • Eating healthy, delicious food.
  • Watching the moon and the stars while your mind is completely free from all thoughts.
  • Getting mutual and financial support from your family whenever you need them.
  • Being able to help others; be It through writing, poetry, or just simple words.
  • Abundance love.
  • Abundance happiness.
  • Abundance faith.

What I need you guys to do now, is grab a book and a pen, or your laptop, sit down and write the things you’re thankful about, or things you truly appreciate in your day to day hectic life.
You’ll feel good and you’ll feel more content with the way you’re living. Perhaps, after making this list, you’ll get a goodnight’s sleep, at long last.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever made a gratitude list or not, and if not, promise me that you’ll make one right now after reading this post!

Peace neighbors,

See you next time~

Out of Reach

“The sea divides us,

The path is long, narrow and tiring.

I am low on cash,

But my heart is filled with your memories.

I try to find ways to reach you,

But all in vain.

I want to surprise you,

See the disbelief expression on your face,

And thereupon hug you tightly without turning back.

If I had the means I would’ve done everything in my power to see your beauty,

But alas, I’m locked in my cage of life, poverty, problems and duty.

You might be out of reach,

But I believe that one day, distance will be just a word in our unceasing speech.”

— To the one I’ve been longing for
