How do we live a simple life? That’s what we all must ask ourselves. You need to take a step back and learn to simplify your life because, without it, you’ll always be tired of yourself and the things you loved to do. By simplifying your life, you can enjoy even the tiniest things and be in control of your life.

Life can be hard and exhausting sometimes. It’s never easy for anyone but we strive to make the best of our day. However, we’re always looking for things that make us happy. Things that make our life more enjoyable.

Sure, you have work; a lot of it at that, but that doesn’t mean you will give up the things that make you happy. That you will just work your butt off, earn, and feed your family, and then repeat the cycle as if you’re a robot.

No, we’re not robots which is why we must also work hard on keeping ourselves happy and sane. God created us not only to work but also to enjoy the pleasures of life which he has bestowed upon us and to be close to our relatives as well.

  • Set Monthly Goals

    When you set monthly goals, you get this motivation that yes, you have to fulfill/complete what you started. This way you can break your bad habits, change your lifestyle, and even complete goals you had a hard time finishing.

  • Reduce The Time You Watch T.V

    Television can and is a big distractor. It can pull you away from your goals, make you lazy, make you forget things, and even make you crazy! (no offense to all those binge-watchers!) There’s no harm in watching one episode a day, but five-six episodes mean using 5-6 hours of your day….just down the drain!

    That’s not how we should live life. You can do SO MUCH in those precious 5-6 years instead of watching television or Netflix. Yes, I know that you have your excuses such as ‘I can’t stop watching because it’s freaking interesting!’ and ‘I wanted to know what happens in the next episode!’ but you need to put a limit to your inquisitiveness and start doing something that will help you be proud of yourself and your life.

  • Declutter Your Closet

    We all have so man clothes but nothing to wear, right? (lol, I know you get me) but yeah, it’s time we get into our closet and pull out all the clothes we don’t need and give them in charity (to someone who actually needs) Trust me, you will feel good and your closet will look neat and tidy too! It’s two birds with one stone, girl!

  • Follow A Morning Routine

    Sometimes, when you wake up, you might get a little confused as to what to first; should you check your emails? eat and then work out? or workout and then eat? Or wait…should you drink coffee first? All of these things may make you hazy and crazy and you might end up sleeping your morning off! And now that it’s lockdown season and we’re all always in our homes, this could be a big problem. However, if you make and follow a specific morning routine that works according to your needs; then you can get up every morning knowing what to do and when. This way you won’t feel as if there’s too much work to do and you can do it step by step.

  • Pay Off Your Debt

    Being a middle-class family, I know how debt can jeopardize your family. I am saying this through my personal experience and believe me when I say that paying off debts is one way to have a simple life. You don’t want the people you are indebted to, calling you every single day, or the bank to come to your house to ask for money. It’s a harsh and cruel world out there and being in debt is gonna make it worse.

Yes, I’m going to say it once again; it’s going to ruin your life and by the time you’re at the bed of the ocean, you will be filled with regret and guilt knowing that all this time, if only you could have thought positively then maybe things could have been changed for the better. Think negativity as your enemy, as your bully, and you need to fight this bully so that you can control your own life instead of letting someone or something tell you what to do. Also, you’re just wasting your time thinking negative thoughts when you could have opened up your laptop and started your own blog!

    Ladies, Gentlemen, and pretty non-binary people out there, we have another enemy among us and that is Social Media. Yes, we waste our time on social media and also hope to get things done! That doesn’t work at all! If you want to get somewhere in your life, then you have to put down that damn phone, close your Instagram (by the way, follow me! it’s @writernxtdoor), and start working on who you want to be! Instead, what you can do is learn new courses such as Blogging, How to become a voice-over artist, and more through Fiverr Learn! 

  • Make A List Of Priorities

    This way, you can have an organized mind and clarity of what really matters most in your life. It can be either taking a course on Udemy or starting a Fiverr account where you can sell your creative services to others who are in need of it.

  • Woah, There…Slow Down

    Take a deep breath and don’t try to think of anything for a while. Just close your eyes and maybe think of cute sea turtles, kittens or baby hamsters! Chill bro, your work isn’t going to go anywhere and neither is your laptop. Now, once you have taken a few minutes off of your screen, you can now eat a fruit or a piece of chocolate and get back to work. Your mind will feel refreshed and you will become more productive.

  • Avoid Multi-Tasking

    Multitasking can make you feel anxious and hyper. It’s like, you need to complete whatever tasks you have in hand even though you could have done it one by one and finished it quicker. Avoid multitasking and try to keep only one-two tabs open on your laptop. It’s good to work one project at a time instead of being all over the computer screen as if you’re playing the piano!

  • Write To-Do List

    The best way to stay organized and have a clear mind in the morning is to make your to-do list right before you go to sleep. This way, you can know what to prioritize and what to keep aside.

How To Fix A Sedentary Lifestyle

A sedentary lifestyle means having little to no body movements. It means not being active or productive enough. Due to this lockdown and to people now being at home more than ever because of COVID-19, people have become more inactive and lazier; which is not a bad thing but not a good thing either.

Are you one of those people? Are you having a hard time getting up from the couch just to go to the bathroom or make yourself some dinner? Are you on your electronic device the entire day and only get up to brush your teeth and sleep?

Well, if you are, then it’s time you fix your lifestyle because this type of lifestyle is unhealthy for you and for your body. As honest as I can be, you’re ruining your body and your body isn’t happy either. You might be gaining weight, getting red eyes or dark circles, you might even have been getting pimples or headaches. 

Research also confirmed several health risks that are associated with a sedentary lifestyle such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer, early death, and cardiovascular disease. It also impacts mental health disorders, loss of appetite, and depression.

Today, I’m going to share with you several tips that can help you get back on track and have a healthy lifestyle which will not only make you feel good about yourself but will make and keep you productive throughout the day.

Any sort of physical activity such as running, cycling, swimming, or even brisk walking can reduce the above-mentioned health risks. It’s reported that those people who exercised had lower health and mental health problems than those who did not. So you better start buying those gym clothes now because you’re going to need it! 

*It’s best to combine cardio with weight and strength training which will help you in weight-loss and to build lean muscles.

Avoid Being Sedentary

Some steps you can do to avoid being sedentary is by: 

  • walking to the desired destination if it’s just a few blocks away.
  • by standing on public transport
  • talking leisure walks
  • doing house-chores
  • Gardening
  • Keeping your phone charger away from where you usually sit.
  • Playing outdoor games with friends such as basketball, tennis, or even cycling.
  • Taking the stairs
  • Stretching a little between breaks while you’re working

Doing these little things can go a long way for you to have a healthy lifestyle. Because nowadays life has become easier due to various technologies, we mustn’t get tempted by it and try to be as active as possible.

A sedentary lifestyle isn’t a healthy lifestyle.

World Health Day – Let’s All Become Healthier!

This year’s World Health Day’s tagline is to support nurses and midwives. It’s celebrated to remind the world leaders and people like us of the important role the nurses and midwives play in keeping the world healthy. Moreover, WHO will launch the State of World’s Nursing Report 2020 for the first time ever.

Because of COVID-19, the nurses and midwives have been giving their all to keep us all in a healthy and safe environment. They are risking their lives just being out there and therefore, we must do everything in our power to acknowledge their hard work and appreciate their services to the wellbeing of the society.

How Do We Observe It?

  • Thank the nurses and midwives.
  • Invest in nursing and midwifery education and employment.
  • Listen and engage nurses and midwives in decision making and explore their ideas.
  • Spread awareness about the importance of healthcare workers.
  • Educate others, sign up for a charity run and check out WHO website for campaign materials.

How To Make Healthy Choices?

  • Eat a balanced and healthy diet.
  • Workout and drink more water.
  • Take some time to de-stress yourself; read a book, watch a movie, drink hot chocolate or just put on an eye mask and go to sleep.
  • Avoid smoking and drinking.
  • Consume less salt and sugar.
  • Get your vaccinations.
  • talk to someone if you’re feeling blue. This is the best time to call your friends and family!
  • Always wash and sanitize your hands before eating.

Although we are all self-quarantined, let’s not forget to stay healthy, avoid eating junk-food and be as active as possible. We are all in this together and if we follow the rules and stay safe–without unnecessarily going out–then we can end this pandemic quicker and people can get back to their repetitive lives.

How to Love Yourself?

This is a question that many people tend to ignore. How to love yourself? It’s not something that you can habitually attain, but just like everything and anything else, you must learn to do it.

Loving yourself isn’t as hard as you think it is. It’s not like you have to stay hours in the gym just to get that perfect figure or spend hours in the kitchen to perfect that dish. No, all it takes is a simple mindset and some tweaks in your daily life that will make you love yourself no matter what people say.

  1. Always set an Inspiring Goal – Because without goals, you won’t have the motivation or purpose to live an enjoyable and successful life. You’ll always end up feeling down and we can’t have that kind of negative energy if we want to live a good and happy life. Therefore, always set an inspiring goal such as; ‘Learning how to Drive’, or, ‘Publishing a Poetry Book’, or, ‘Becoming a successful Blogger/Vlogger,’ These kinds of goals will set you apart from the rest of your family and friends and you will also be thrilled to continue to pursue your dreams.
  2. Ask yourself from time to time; What do you love about yourself? Surely, there must be something that you love about yourself? For example, your nose. You might have a pretty nose, or your face, your eyes or even your arms or booty. Perhaps, there’s something about your nature that you love? You might be kind, caring, supportive, a good listener. It can be anything but it’s up to you to find out what it is that you love about yourself? Always ask this question at the beginning or end of the day so that you can strive to do more good and be someone’s perfect role model.
  3. It’s now time to Thank Your Body because unlike many other who are suffering out there, you don’t have cancer or other illnesses that makes you look sick (May God Heal them too) You’re healthy, you’re beautiful and even if you don’t have abs or toned arms and legs, your body is normal and you’re still fitting into your favorite dresses, so that’s something to be thankful of. This year too, don’t forget to take care of your body because if you become lazy in that, then your entire year might go down the hill. The main gear of our life is indeed our body. If we struggle to keep it healthy and fit, our lives will turn out to be more independent, confident and wonderful!
  4. Always Forgive Yourself because we aren’t AI robots (well, AI too makes mistakes sometimes) but we’re human beings and we make mistakes. We’re not perfect; no matter how clean your house is or how good you’re in math. We all made/make mistakes but what will give us the chance to continue with our life is if we forgive and tell ourselves that life is a series of ups and downs and we must learn to embrace our mistakes and reset our lives every time we fall back down. We can’t just stop playing a game just because we aren’t able to fight the big boss at the end, right? No, we continue because we had come a long way and turning back now would be like giving up. So, we fight the villain until we’ve won and we actually do win in the end; somehow…but we do.
  5. Last but not the least, Stop Comparing Yourself to others. We’re all different in our own ways. Again, we’re not robots, we’re human beings and we come in all shapes and sizes. If you keep on comparing yourself to others, you won’t be able to achieve anything because you’re automatically telling yourself that ‘that guy/girl is better than me and I won’t be able to do it.’ See, that’s so much pessimism right there! Just throw that thought out of your mind and focus on yourself. Focus on your goals and see how fast you’ll drive the car to success or to your desired goals/dreams.

I hope these 5 simple tips will help you start the new year with much strength and confidence. Don’t worry, everything will be alright. We all have a long way to go but we have to start somewhere, don’t we? Let’s not get busy with what the world wants or thinks, let’s focus on what we want and let’s strive to be happy for ourselves.

Hate it but don’t Vape It

Did you know that there are currently 1 billion smokers worldwide? And as the rise of vaping among teenagers continues, it’s no doubt that the number will gradually increase. The teens have begun to vape either because they are pressured by its trend or believe it to make them look cool. 

E-cigarettes are a battery-operated device that emits doses of vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine mixtures. They resemble conventional cigarettes but without burning tobacco. 

The majority of the teenagers these days are vaping due to the fact that 1) it’s flavorful and is 95% less harmful than smoking and 2) It’s aimed to provide a similar sensation to inhaling tobacco smoke. 

However, in September 2019, Federal and Health Authorities investigated an outbreak of a severe lung disease that was linked with e-cigarettes and other vaping products. 

Although many believe that they are the better alternative to quit smoking, there is a manifest risk and a negative impact on the users such as lung and bladder cancer and heart diseases. 

Furthermore, e-cigarettes contain nicotine which is highly addictive and can trigger changes in the adolescent brain. The e-cigarettes also produce an aerosol that contains solvents, toxicants, and flavorings which are more likely harmful. 

India has already banned E-cigarettes and the authorities are tightening the regulations to discourage young people from using them, but is that enough to stop those who are addicted? Can you guarantee that they won’t use Tobacco in the form of cigarettes which is a far worse substitute and is easily at one’s disposal? 

However, here are some ways we can help people quit Vaping. 

  1. Talk to them and change their perspective about vaping. 
  2. Join them in counseling sessions.
  3. Help them look into Nicotine replacement therapy.
  4. Lastly, surround them with positive people.

Easy Amaranth Flour Nutella cookies | Gluten/Dairy Free

This recipe is the perfect snack/dessert and it’s super easy to make!

I love Amaranth flour as it gives off quite a nutty and rainy flavor and smell. It goes well with any recipe, be it sweet or savory.

Today my sister made cookies using Amaranth flour and nutella. They were super delicious and the texture too was perfect; just like any other cookie.

I never knew Amaranth Flour would be so tasty!

At first, she was hesitant to use Amaranth flour because I’m the only one in my family who is doing a gluten and dairy free diet, but when she tried this recipe for me today, she fell in love.

Trust me, you’ll fall in love too with this simple recipe and with Amaranth flour.

All you need for the cookies are:-

Amaranth Flour – 1 cup
Baking powder – 1 tsp
Salt – a pinch
Nutella – 2-3 tbsp (the chocolatier, the better)
Vanilla essence – 1/2 tsp
Egg – 1
Handful of Nuts of your choice

Method:-

Preheat oven to 170 degree c.

First mix the dry ingredients. Then mix the dry ingredients, make sure there aren’t any lumps. It should be a smooth flowing consistency. Combine the batter to the flour and mix with a spatula until everything is well combined. You will get a dough at the end. You can either add nuts while mixing the dough or decorate it at the end. It’s totally up to you.

Line a baking tray with butter paper or grease it with melted butter. Roll the dough and place it on the tray, leaving enough gaps for the cookies to flatten.

Bake for 30 minutes and voila, your cookies are ready to eat. But be sure to let them cool down a little before you chomp them all down.

Store these delicious cookies in the fridge. It will last upto 7 days!

I am so grateful for my sister to make the cookies today. I really needed something to ease my nerves and make me feel happy.

Post Workout Snacks

Just as snacking is important before your workout, eating a healthy and nutritional meal is also essential after a workout. 

You can’t get those six abs or the peach butt if you eat junk food after a really good workout that made you feel better and stronger. The moment you touch that potato chip or chocolate chip cookies, all your hard work becomes for naught.

Remember, food is fuel.

I know it’s super hard to resist gooey brownies and delicious sloppy burgers but if we want to reach our goal to becoming fit, healthy, strong and at our very best, then we gotta make some sacrifices. And not just any sacrifices, but real sacrifices that we love so dearly. 

I apologize if I intimidated you a little, I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to motivate you a little that’s all. Anyway, my point for today is, although I told you to make sacrifices, I never said not to sacrifice food because obviously, food is fuel and without fuel, you’re just a dead machine. 

Eat healthy, stay hydrated, sleep well, repeat.

Eating the right ingredients and portions will ensure that you reach your goal quicker and in an effective manner that will stay with you for a long time. All these crash diets and what-not diets that you’ve heard and seen on the internet might work for some people, but most of them struggle to see any results. That’s because most of these diets either tell you to not eat or eat a lot. Odd but true.

A proper diet consists of vegetables, fruits and meat, all of which must go to our body so that we rise better and stronger every morning. If you disregard even any one of the products, your body will gradually begin to malfunction, and you’ll be forced to suffer other problems that will eventually occur in time.

Always keep in mind, that the most important meal of your day is your breakfast and your post-workout meal. Post workout meal is the fundamental of your body. After a workout, your body loses most of its energy, fluids and tissues and weakens the muscles. So, what do you do to restore them all back and become whole again? You eat. But you can’t just eat anything because then your workout routines will seem worthless the next time you step on that weighing machine. 

Try to make your food look and taste delicious in your own way rather than following a recipe blindly.

A good post workout meal has the right amount of carbs, protein and fat. Add all three in your dish and you’ll never touch that tasty pie again. 

Here is a list of some Post-Workout Meals to energize you!

  • Peanut Butter Toast with Bananas (My absolute favorite)
  • Granola Bar
  • Cheese and Crackers
  • Sliced apple with Peanut Butter
  • Nuts
  • Fruits
  • Toast with Cream Cheese and Tomatoes
  • Toast with Avocados
  • Avocado shake
  • Smoothies
  • Protein Shake
  • Greek Yogurt with choice of Fruit
  • Grilled Chicken with Baked Vegetables
  • Rice with Brocolli
  • Boiled eggs
  • Chocolate milk
  • Veggie Omelette
  • Protein Pancakes
  • Oatmeals

You should eat in 30-45 minutes after your workout and don’t forget to hydrate yourself. Drink plenty of water, sleep well and don’t stress yourself too much.

With challenge comes change. Ask yourself, how bad do you want it? Push yourself and never give up!

Pre-Workout Snacks

The key to a perfect body is confidence, but most importantly, it’s nutrition as well!


Snacking before a workout gives you energy and gets you motivated to finish your workout without any distractions. It will also improve your performance and help you achieve your fitness goals.

Good food will improve your health and help you lead a happy life.

Nutrition is key to success and good food will help your body recover from a hectic workout. Your body needs fuel before and after a workout. If it doesn’t get enough food, then the muscles will gradually detoriate and you’ll end up feeling weak and unmotivated the next day.

Feed your body with enough carbs, protein and fat and never stop hydrating yourself because our body needs water to function properly.

Drink water before, while and after workouts. You can also consume energy drinks to restore and retain the fluids.

Find the right time to snack.

Pre-Workout Snacks

Here are a few items you can consume right before your workout :-

  • Bananas
  • Fruit Smoothies
  • Greek Yogurt
  • Brown Bread/Gluten-Free toast with Avocado
  • Boiled Eggs
  • Handful of dried nuts

Always prioritize your meals.

It depends on how long you have for your workout. If you have an hour, then you can consume a tuna sandwich, or if you have two hours left, then choose something slightly heavy as in grilled chicken or sauted vegetables.

Never starve yourself no matter what.

Always remember, good food, right food is the only way you can get those chiseled abs and toned booty.

5 Ways I Can Start Taking Care Of Myself

Nobody’s life is perfect. Everyone is stressed, worried and just trying to live their life as simply as possible. Even though we all smile, we are sad, angry, and just fed up of the burden collecting on our shoulders. Consequently, all of this makes us anxious and greedy and selfish. At least that’s what I think because I know how desperate a human can get to achieve what they want to achieve.

However, I have realized that taking things in this life seriously will do you no good. Whatever happens, happens with the Will of God and I truly believe that God is the Best of the Planners.

So, here are 5 ways I think I can start taking care of myself this year.

  1. Be more Patient. I am a very hasty person. I want things to get done quickly and I think that’s my biggest flaw.
  2. Be more Hopeful. I am also slightly pessimistic. Not to the extent where I might end up committing suicide but sometimes, I get so stressed that I end up thinking that there’s nothing more I can do now.
  3. Work more. I procrastinate a lot and that’s the thing I hate about myself. I know that I have a lot to do but eventually, I end up watching Korean Drama (I’m not addicted to My ID is Gangnam Beauty! Oh my gosh, it’s such an amazing drama!)
  4. Be more Positive. My sister always tells me things like, ‘Faith can move mountains,’ and ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way.’ and I like to hear those words from her because it certainly gives me more positive vibes and I feel good throughout the day. I don’t know what I would’ve done without her but when she’s married and gone off, I need to remind myself these things every now and then so that I don’t become depressed. (If you leave me be, I get quite depressive at times.)
  5. Listen to my body. I’m very conscious of my body and if I even miss a few extra days of workout, I get really really really stressed about it. So even when I’m not feeling well or have a headache, I still workout and that just leaves my body even more tired. That’s another flaw I have and It’s hard to get rid of but I’m trying now. I don’t want my health to deteriorate and I hope whoever reads this post, will stay healthy as well!

I know it will be hard for me to follow these steps but I’m confident that I can become a better person. I just need some time and I’m good to go.
