My 9 Favorite Book Characters

I love characters that I can sympathize and sometimes empathize with. I haven’t read many books in these 19 years but I will list down the ones I know and felt an attachment to.

  1. Cedric Diggory – Harry Potter – For some reason, I like Cedric very much. It might be because Robert Pattinson was Cedric in the movie…
  • Kaz Brekker – Six of Crows – Kaz is a cold but cool character which I fell in love with instantly.
  • Ginny Weasley – Harry Potter – I like her because she is this quiet yet bold girl who isn’t just intelligent but optimistic and caring too.
  • Hercule Poirot – Agatha Christie books – I always imagine Pierce Brosnan as being this detective because of the given features and manners. But I like the way Hercule Poirot’s mind works. It’s just super amusing.
  • Willy Wonka – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Tbh, Willy Wonka has been my favorite character since I was, what? 10? I don’t know why I like him, but I just do. He’s quirky, funny and he has quite an odd mind, don’t you think?
  • Edward Cullen – Twilight- Okay, I know many (most) of you all don’t like Edward Cullen, but guys, he’s a Romantic Vampire! He’s nice, caring, (slightly possessive) but once he falls in love with you, he won’t ever let you go. Isn’t that what every girl wishes for? I see no wrong in loving Edward Cullen.
  • Matilda – Matilda – And just like Willy Wonka, I have loved Matilda since forever. She is a powerful, clever and rebellious kid and she is basically like a role model to the other little kids who think they are too weak to fight.
  • Greg Heffley – Diary of a Wimpy Kid – All I have to say is that this kid is the funniest character I have ever bumped into.
  • Sherlock Holmes – Sherlock Holmes – I’m sure I don’t need to tell you why I like Sherlock Holmes. Everyone loves Sherlock, don’t they? I can’t understand his mind at all…How does he even notice such trivial and intricate things? How can he solve such mind-boggling cases with a snap of his fingers? Nope…I can’t believe him. He’s like another super human to me.

For now, these are my favorite characters. I am trying to read more books and let’s see if I’ll fall in love with the characters or not.

By the way, what are your favorite characters? Do comment to let me know!

Until then,

Peace neighbors,

11 Writing Tips That Will Make You A Better Writer

A good writer listens to others; they take each other’s advice, they lock their pride and they humbly reach out for help. Yes, we have ego, we hate suggestions and we stress over petty things and we get annoyed easily.
But, sixty percent of the writers are pretty good at taking good advice and implementing them.

Anyway, my point is, if you want to be a good writer, you don’t need to listen to others. In fact, you can do it yourself. Let me give you a few tips that’ll help you become a better writer (if you’re too shy or too narcissistic to take help of others) P.S. I’m talking about the majority of writers including me, so don’t hate me.

  • 1)
  • Choose a book title that will not only grab the reader’s attention but will make them feel something. It should make the reader confuse, or sad, or happy!
  • 2) This is the most important point of all. Organize your ideas before you begin writing. I regret not using this point the first time I began writing my novel…
  • 3) Add your own style and voice to your writing. Sure, you like Agatha Christie or Roald Dahl or John Green, but you can’t be them to make a book of your own. You need to be you so that people can recognize who you are and not just some copycat or wannabe.
  • 4) Make sure you stick to the point. Don’t write unnecessary stuff that’ll take a page or two without it making any sense or point.
  • 5) Use your words wisely. Keep sentences and paragraphs short but make it meaningful. Like Poetry.
  • 6) Read a lot. Read. Read. Read. That’s what everyone says, and they say that because it’s the truth. The more you read, the more your writing will improve.
  • 7) Reread and revise your writing. Don’t be lazy. Edit calmly and gingerly.
  • 8) Don’t be afraid of what people will think. They will think a million things but it’s up to you how you’ll make change their thinking. Forget the comments, who needs comments? You just want to get your story on the page, right? so do it and don’t stop.
  • 9) Always remember the six senses. Describe your characters, your actions and your surroundings well.
  • 10) Add a little humor. Yes, even if it’s a murder mystery or a horror book. No one likes a serious novel.
  • 11) Last but not the least, dude, enjoy what you write because if YOU don’t enjoy your story, then you can’t expect others to enjoy your story. Write scenes that make YOU happy, that make YOU sad, that make YOU angry.

Use these tips and I promise you, you’ll write a best-seller in no time. It takes time and patience, but you’ll get there. Eventually.

List Of Books I Want To Read This Year

We all love reading, don’t we all? We love escaping from our reality and just indulge in someone else’s life. It’s so strange how such something fictional can sometimes make us feel sane. Books are capable of playing with our emotions and thoughts and the more you read, I’ve realized the more focused you are in your life.

I didn’t read much last year, but this year I have decided to at least finish reading 10+ books! I know 10 is still a low number but for me, it’s a start. I’m just so busy that for me 10 is a still a great number.

Anyway, below is my list of the books I want to read this year!

  2. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
  3. Elevation – Stephen King
  4. I’ll Be Gone In The Dark – Michelle Mcnamara

  10. Sadie – Courtney Summers
  11. What if it’s us – Adam Silvera
  12. All the Little Lights – Jamie McGuire
  13. Emergency Contact – Mary H.K. Choi
  14. Starry Eyes – Jenn Bennett
  15. The Cheerleaders – Kaza Thomas
  16. Love, Hate and Other Filters – Samira Ahmed

Try to Survive

Why do we hate each other?

What’s gotten into us?

Why do we not understand one anothers feelings?

Did our hearts become hard like stones;
that not even stabbing in the heart with a sharp knife would make you cry?

Why is it that we’ve become like robots?
Heartless and merciless?

When did we change?
When did we become so cruel?

We’re ruining ourselves.
We will be the end of us, I swear.

There’s a fire inside of us that’s blazing violently,
Not even a storm or a hurricane can extinguish it.

We need to change,
we need to be who we were once.

I know it won’t be easy,
but we have to try.

This world is just a test,
so hold on and survive,

because the end is very near.
because believe me, you’re not going to live a hundred years.

— An important note.

What would you like to be recognized for when you are older?

Hm, this is an easy question and I don’t think I need to think too much to answer it.

Of course, I want to be recognized as a bestselling Author. It’s my dream. My one true goal in life that I want to accomplish no matter what.
I want people to just see my book and go like, “OMG! I love this Author’s work! She’s just awesome!”

It’s a simple dream, a simple hope, but I’ll give it my all!

Being recognized without you forcefully telling it to people is a great achievement and not many people can get that.
However, it’s not as easy as you think it is, to become a recognized author.

Sure, for some, it’s a one-night waiting and fame knocks on the door like Amazon Delivery,
but for others, it takes months or even years. For people like us, it’s a dream come true.
It’s what matters when we sit in front of the laptop and let our fingers do the working.

And not even writers but other people as well. Other occupations too are difficult to get recognized for.
I hope one day, some day at least, that you all will get recognized for the dreams you’re chasing. For the goal that you’re pursuing.

For the moment you’ve been waiting.

My Life: Ramblings Of My Mind

Good morning guys, I hope you all are having a great day! I deeply apologize for not being able to update my blog regularly like I used to. Reason being that my hands and mind is on a tight schedule. I won’t disclose what I’ve been doing since I don’t really like to brag about myself, but I finally decided to at least boost my blog with this mini post and in flow let you know that I am still alive!

Life hasn’t been easy these past couple of days. Sometimes hope rises, sometimes it crashes. Sometimes there are good news, other times, no news (which is also good news, but it only makes the heart restless) We human beings are created with so little patience. It’s pretty hard to suppress your feelings and put on a smiling face but you do it anyway. I kept and keep telling myself that everything will be alright because I do believe that everything WILL turn out alright and that a road without any oil spill or thorny bushes is right ahead of me. All you have to do is keep going, no matter how hard it is for you, or how exhausted you are. You GOTTA keep walking. You HAVE to reach your destination. You can’t book a ticket and not get on the plane, right?

I’ve been staying strong and I’ve been trying to move forward with all my might. Sometimes (most often) I just want to close everything and lay down on my bed and just doze off to another world. But you know what stops me from doing that? Guilt. Yes, the moment I spend ten or twenty minutes doing nothing, I start to feel guilty that I’ve been wasting my time and that I could’ve at-least written three to five hundred words in those ten-twenty precious minutes…

Don’t even ask how I or the other writers are surviving. We’re always the one chasing, and remarkably the ones catching too. We are a game of cat and mouse itself.
Alas, there’s nothing anyone can do to get us out of our messy situation.

But you know what? With Hardship comes Ease.
That’s the beauty of it.
That’s the sole purpose of tiring ourselves. We need that satisfaction. That rare feeling of happiness that seldom blooms. Only those who don’t give up midway can taste that sweetness of success. Only those who don’t stop doing what they are meant to do can at long last sleep continually for days and wake up knowing that “OMG YASS!” They have done it.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t stop there.
No, that merriment, that seventh heaven feeling is only there for a few days because knock knock, another project, another story, another venture is on your door.

That’s Life.
Or you could say, that’s the life of a writer.

But I’m pretty sure all those who’re working; be it freelancer or plain 9-5 business individuals, they go through the same emotions and stages as we do.
Perhaps they have more severe episodes, or maybe less, nonetheless, what matters is that we stay strong, we hold on, we don’t drown, and we move on until we see the break of dawn.

Anyhow, I’m sorry for rambling but I also feel good to just spill my feelings and thoughts here. My head and heart feel light and possibly, I can take a nice little power nap and then wake up refreshed and get up to work! (Like a miner)

I want you guys to stay persistent too! Don’t give up! Never!
If you do, I guarantee that you’ll regret it. If not more, at the least an ants weight you’ll regret it.

Do. Not. Give. Up.

May your dreams come true!

That’s all I’ll say for today. Thank you to all those who’ve read this, understood this, pondered upon my words and were glad to see me post again.
I’ll try to be active on my blog! (No promises though, I don’t like making promises that I know I can’t keep)

Peace neighbors,

See you in my next post~

A Teenager in Love

“It was an unexpected love,
a first glance love,
a heart racing love.

I looked at you,
and my irises expanded,
my legs turned weak,
my cheeks flushed red.

I still remember the feeling;
the quivering of my hands,
the confusion of my mind,
and the sudden pangs–in my heart.

I remember the way i searched for you,
all over social media, all over the news.

Who were you?
Where were you?

A stranger,
a normal being,
A person I couldn’t forget when I was just a teenager.

I remember that I thought it was destiny,
Me and you.
You and me.

A memory I firmly hold close to my heart,
till death do us apart.”

— The first time I saw 김종인.

The Golden Snitch (A Harry Potter Poem)

“It’s not time yet, they won’t let me free.
The players are yet to get ready, yet to come to the vast field.

I’m stuck in this box until they are ready on their brooms,
Ready, set, go! And I’m free, invisible to all, flying round and around.

Two players from opposite teams try to catch me,
I’m excited, but I’m afraid that one or the other would see—

Alas, my freedom would be gone, I would have to wait until I’m once more set free.

So I try to run fast. Faster and away,
from the extended arms that come my way.

I’m golden, I’m bright,
that makes my chances of getting caught, more likely and tight.

Left, right, up and down, I dodge,
Time is slowly running out on the giant watch.

A few minutes left, and no one has caught me,
perhaps this is my chance to be wild and free?

By cheers and wind, I’m overdosed,
I go through the loops, the hoops, and the goalposts.

Hah! A few seconds are left, no one can catch me–
Damn, I’m stuck, why can’t I move forward? Why can’t I reach that tree?

Darkness surrounded me so suddenly,
My heart beat rose, and I realized,
That I was caught by somebody.

I fell in gloom, in utter despair,
I don’t want to be locked up in the box again,
I want to always keep breathing this fresh air.

Boisterous screams, and thundering claps sent a shiver down my spine,
Headmasters and Professors, each celebrated with a glass of wine.

I was raised high and shown to the people that I was defeated,
My pride and my joy were shattered to bloody pieces.

Locked again was I in the box all alone,
They think I’m special, but woe! They can’t hear my cry, my unceasing moan.

When will I come out again?
When will I be free?
Perchance in the next game,
I’ll be released from the pain,
and escape to the sea.”

– inspired by the Golden Snitch.

Thank You (A Poem)

“Thank you is such a small word,
but it says so much.

It contains so much emotion,
like the vast ocean, like the neverending desert.

Thank you, it softens our hearts,
it breaks our heart.

Thank you, it leaves a deep scar,
it burns, it stings, and it creates a wound that could never be stitched.

Thank you, a love can blossom so easily,
and as easily it could be shattered.

Two simple words,
everything turns out fine,
but only sometimes.

Thank you, say it once or twice or thrice,
it never gets old.

Use it as an excuse,
a reason,
or to hide your pain and blues.

Thank you, can be a curse,
can be a blessing.

Thank you, can be freedom,
can be a prison, an infinite eden.”

Comfort, consider–
