Dancing in the Dark

Our bodies moved side by side,
the old love song played in the background.

Your hand was on my delicate waist,
a kiss on my forehead is all it takes,
to make our hearts burn intensely,
the night where the stars shine brightly,
are the best nights of my life.

We would hold each other until the music stops,
we would wish the music never stops.

How one day I’d love to dance

with the special somebody…

Describe me in One word!

What is the one word you would like people to use to describe you?

Let’s see.
I think it would be ambitious because the moment I have a goal, I’m adamant on fulfilling it. I want to succeed and I actually do it with patience.
I’m in no hurry to reach my dream, because if it’s meant to be, then it will be.
However, I’m not gonna just sit there and wait for an opportunity.
I try to find the right door instead of opening all doors.
I’m committed to the work I do. I’m always fired up and the more I dream, the more aggressive and assertive I get of accomplishing my task.
So yeah, I would like people to describe me as an ambitious individual who is always hungry for success and always striving forward with all her might and power!

Those who will be Punished (Hadith)

The Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “He who narrates a dream which he has not seen will be put to trouble to join into a knot two barley seeds which he will not be able to do; and he who seeks to listen to the talk of a people (secretly) will have molten lead poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection; and he who makes a picture (of people or other creatures with a soul, such as animals and insects) will be (severely punished), and he will be asked to infuse spirit therein, which he will not be able to do.”

[Al-Bukhari, Riyad As-Saaliheen 1544]

What would you like to be recognized for when you are older?

Hm, this is an easy question and I don’t think I need to think too much to answer it.

Of course, I want to be recognized as a bestselling Author. It’s my dream. My one true goal in life that I want to accomplish no matter what.
I want people to just see my book and go like, “OMG! I love this Author’s work! She’s just awesome!”

It’s a simple dream, a simple hope, but I’ll give it my all!

Being recognized without you forcefully telling it to people is a great achievement and not many people can get that.
However, it’s not as easy as you think it is, to become a recognized author.

Sure, for some, it’s a one-night waiting and fame knocks on the door like Amazon Delivery,
but for others, it takes months or even years. For people like us, it’s a dream come true.
It’s what matters when we sit in front of the laptop and let our fingers do the working.

And not even writers but other people as well. Other occupations too are difficult to get recognized for.
I hope one day, some day at least, that you all will get recognized for the dreams you’re chasing. For the goal that you’re pursuing.

For the moment you’ve been waiting.

If I were an Animal…(A Poem)

If I could be an animal,
I would be an Eagle.

I would soar the skies,
Hunt with my sharp eyes.

I would stretch my wings,
and sing a beautiful lullaby.

If I could be an animal,
I would be an Eagle.

I would awe the watchers,
I would go round and round in big circles;
above the grey clouds,
I would look down and feel proud.

I would be one with the pink and red shades,
I would fight, I would die,
but I won’t be caged.

Yawning and Sneezing (Hadith)

The Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Allah likes sneezing and dislikes yawning. When any one of you sneezes and says ‘Al-Hamdu Lillah (Praise be to Allah)’. It becomes obligatory upon every Muslim who hears him to respond with ‘Yarhamuk-Allah (May Allah have mercy on you)’. Yawning is from the devil. When one of you feels like yawning, he should restrain it as much as possible, for the devil laughs when one of you yawns.
[Al-Bukhari]

It was reported from Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If any one of you sneezes, let him say, ‘Alhumdulillah’, and let his brother or his companion say, ‘Yarhamuk-Allah’. And if he says to him, ‘Yarhamuk-Allah’, let him say, ‘Yahdeekum Allahu wa yusliha baalakum (May Allah guide you and correct your thinking.’” – Reported by Al-Bukhari 10/502

Sneezing brings a person the blessing of relief by releasing vapours that were trapped in the head which, if they were to remain there, would cause him pain and sickness. For this reason, Islam tells him to praise Allah for this blessing and for the fact that his body is still intact after this jolt that shook him like an earthquack; for sneezing causes a disturbing movement in the body.

When a person mentions Allah and praises Him, this annoys the Shaytan in several ways, for example: the act of sneezing itself which Allah likes, his praising Allah for it, the Muslims praying for mercy for him, and his prayer for them to be guided. All of this annoys the Shaytan and makes him upset, so the believer is told to rejoice over his annoyance of his enemy.

Ibn Hubayrah said, “If a person sneezes, this is an indication of good health, sound digestion and physical strength, so he should praise Allah. This is why the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded us to praise Allah.”

It is also important to know that the Muslim should submit to the texts and act in accordance with them without trying too hard to understand precisely why a text commands or forbids something. He should believe that Allah, the Most High and Exalted, is the Wise and Aware; Who does not prescribe anything for His slaves unless it is in their best interests, in this world and in the next, although it may cross their minds and some people may understand a part of the wisdom behind it whilst others will never know. The Muslim’s basic rule is to follow the commands. To follow what the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered us to do because if you don’t follow the Sunnah, you’re not really following the right path.

And Allah, The Magnificent knows best.

Drip Drop Drip (A Poem)

While the droplets of cold hail fall down on the muddy ground,
A flower blooms, a life borns, and death watches from afar.

Sometimes, people run from the mercy,
Sometimes, they enjoy it.
And sometimes, they don’t care;
Whether they get wet, or get cold, or have runny nose.

As the sound of storms smack against the window,
a cup of hot chocolate must be by our side,
to calm our souls, and ease our minds.

It’s okay, it’s just rain.
but what if there’s a flood,
what if it’s a deadly torment?
A mere punishment?

Coldness wraps us with a bit of fear,
A book for distraction,
or talking for hours with a friend or family member;
would soothe the hearts, and bring close the loved ones and dear.

Don’t worry,
Sometimes, a rain is just a rain.
It’s what most people wait for,
what most people ask for.

Under the rain,
There are laughters,
talks; some vain, some meaningful.

It gives us a bit of happiness,
for most people, it turns out to be a sad day,
threads of meloncholy sway around them,
clouds of darkness follow them.

Drip, drop, drip, drop,
the rhythm helps me sleep at night.
Tranquility kisses my cheek,
and whispers a soft goodnight.

Day of Arafah

Abu Qatada al-Ansari narrated that Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah, whereupon he said: “It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year.”

In Sahih Muslim, it was narrated from Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) that Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah. He comes close and expresses His fulfillment to the Angels, saying, “What do these people want?”

The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The best of Dua is Dua of the Day of Arafah, and the best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is: Laa Ilaahaa illall laahu-wah dahu laa shareeka lahu-lahul mulku-wa lahul hamdu- wa huwa alaa kulli shayin kadeer.
[None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partners. His is the dominion and His is the praise, He has power over all things – Tirmidhi]

The Day of Arafah falls on the 9th day of Dhul al-Hijjah of the lunar Islamic calendar. At dawn of this day, Muslim pilgrims make their way from Mina to a nearby hillside called Mount Arafah. It was from this site that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) gave his farewell sermon in the final year of his life.

Allah, the Most High and Exalted says in Surah al Maa’idah 5:3,

“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion.”

Imam Ibn Kathir in his tafsir says,

“Imam Ahmad recorded that Tariq bin Shihab said, “A Jewish man said to Umar bin Al-Khattab, ‘O Leader of the Believers! There is a verse in your Book which is read by all of you (Muslims). And had it been revealed to us, we would have taken that day (on which it was revealed) as a day of celebration.’
Umar bin Al-Khattab asked, ‘Which is that verse?’. The Jew replied,
‘This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion.’
Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) replied, ‘By Allah! I know when and where this verse was revealed to Allah’s Messenger. It was the evening on the Day of Arafah on a Friday.”

The Day of Arafah is also significant because Allah swore by this Day in Surah al-Burooj, 85:1-3:
“By the sky containing great stars. And (by) the promised Day. And (by) the witness and what is witnessed.”

Allah, the Most High and Exalted swears by nothing except that which is great and mighty! So, the Day of Arafah is of great significance.

It was reported from Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“The promised day is the Day of Ressurection, the witnessed day is the Day of Arafah, and the witnessing day if Friday” – Tirmidhi

It is Sunnah to recite the Takbeer (Allahu Akbar – Allah is the most Great),
Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah – All Praise are Allah’s),
and Tahleel (Subhan Allah – Glorified is Allah), during the 10 Days of Dhul-al Hijjah. This is the least of act of worship that a Muslim can do during these days.

Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “There is no day more honorable in Allah’s sight and no acts more beloved therin to Allah than those in these ten days. So say tahleel, takbeer, and tahmid a lot (on those days).”– Ahmad

Recite and revive your relationship with the Quran, do more good deeds, pray nawafil prayers, fast, pray Tahajjud and give in charity because the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these days.”, The Companions asked, “O Messenger of Allah, not even Jihad in the Way of Allah?”, He said, “Not even Jihad save for the man who puts his life and wealth for Allah’s sake and returns with neither of them.”

[Note- Only those who aren’t able to perform Hajj have to fast, Insha Allah.]

Last but not the least, offer your Qurbani or (Udhhiya). The sacrifice of a livestock animal during Eid Al-Adhaa.

Jaabir, (May Allah be pleased with him) said, “I prayed on Eid Al-Adhaa with the Messenger of Allah (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) and when he finished (the prayer), he was brought one ram, and he sacrificed it. He said, ‘In the Name of Allah, Allah is Most Great. This is on behalf of myself, my family members and any of my Ummah who did not offer a sacrifice.”

May Allah, The Most High, the Exalted and The Most Loving, give us a chance to be among those who perfrom Hajj next year. May He accept our prayers, our Dua’s and wipe away our sins. May He bestow upon us, our family, and all His believing slaves, His Mercy and Blessings and May Allah, Who loves to pardon, and Who loves us, Who listens to our problems, Who hears our invocations and Who wants us to be with Him in Jannah, keep us guided in the right path. May Allah, our Portector and our Guardian, protect us from the evil whisperings of the Shayateen and May He raise our ranks in Jannah.

Ameen, Ya Rabbul Aalameen.

The Virtue of Supplication

All Praise and Thanks are Allah’s, who has guides us to the right path and has been merciful to us.

And Allah said, “Invoke Me (and ask Me for anything) and I will respond (to your invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship will surely enter Hell in humiliation!”
[ Al-Ghafir 40:60]

And Allah said, “And when My slaves ask you concerning Me, then (answer them) that indeed I am near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.”
[Al-Baqarah 2:186]

The Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Supplication is worship and your Lord says, ‘Invoke Me (and ask Me for anything) and I will respond (to your invocation).’”
[Abu Dawud 2/78, At Tirmidhi 5/211, Ibn Majah 2/1258]

And he (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Verily, your Lord the most Blessed and High is living and most generous, and as such is embarrassed to turn away the raised (and supplicating) hands of His servant with nothing.”
[Abu Dawud 2/78, At Tirmidhi 5/557, Ibn Majah 2/1271]

And he (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no Muslim that supplicates to Allah with a supplication that contains neither sin nor the cutting of family ties, without Allah granting him one of three things: A swift response to the supplication, delay a response (and consequent reward) until the hereafter, or preventing evil (to the equivalent of the supplication) that may afflict the supplicant.” They (the Companions) said, “In that case we shall increase (in our supplications)” to which the Prophet replied, “Allah is the Most (effortlessly able to facilitate and respond to such an increase)!”
[At Tirmidhi 5/566, 5/462, Ahmad 3/18]

Some words are so meaningful, so powerful and so heart-clenching. And then there are some words that anger you, that provoke and hurt you.

Choosing the right words takes patience. In my view, its kind of like art and well, writing because they play such an important role in our daily lives.
