Mini Review of Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle.

I finally got to see Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle, and despite the comments and reviews, I watched it and I’m being completely honest here, I liked it very much. Sure, it didn’t reach till ‘love’ but does it matter? As long as the movie is enjoyable and isn’t illogical, it goes right in my ‘rewatch’ list.

The story is about a board game (now turned into a game cartridge for the new generation) that unwillingly sucks the players into the game and throws them out only when they complete the entire game.

Let me just tell you what all I liked about it, then we could get into what I didn’t like about it. Although it wasn’t how I expected it to be, I enjoyed watching the movie because of its action, adventure and humorous acts. I wasn’t bored anywhere but I did think that at some parts it had gotten a bit tedious (just a bit) because then immediately, the story picks up and you can feel the excitement again. There were a couple of unexpected scenes, some that made me clap my hands like a frantic seal and some that I felt were too good. I did like the scene though where they mentioned about Alan Parrish (the one who got stuck in Jumanji in 1995 movie) and how and where he survived. Some scenes really got me recalling the 1995 Jumanji.

Now getting on to what I didn’t like, there’s just this one disapproval and you guys might’ve guessed it already. Yes, it wasn’t as good as the first part. I’ve become a big fan of Jumanji after watching the original and I know I shouldn’t grumble about it because the years change,  people change, and ideas change and we can’t always expect the same thing but, originality is originality, right? No matter how you look at it, you still want Robin Williams and the board game, Jumanji.

I must confess, I only watched the second half of the movie attentively because of Nick Jonas. Man, he looks so cool and handsome and he’s a pretty good actor too. Jack Black’s acting as a girl was A-ok, and the other actors played their characters well too. Damn, Kevin Hart’s jokes tickled my stomach real hard!

Evidently, I’ve no complains with Rock because he’s a brilliant actor and no matter what role he plays, he achieves his task with ease.

However, its sad to know that there will no longer be another Jumanji adventure because the kids who got in the game, smash the console with a bowling ball, killing the game so that it doesn’t get the chance to trap anymore of its innocent players.

*tears in my eyes*

Conclusion : I was satisfied with the movie.

Rating: 7/10

Peace neighbours,

See you in my next post~
