Mini Review of Netflix’s Original Anime ‘B the Beginning’
*Beware, might contain spoilers*
I don’t know what I was expecting but it reached beyond my expectation. After watching the trailer, I was like, ‘I don’t want to watch it because of it’s advanced technology shit’ but who knew that I would betray my own feelings?
B the Beginning is an action, crime, high-tech anime that unfolds in a nation of Cremona. The story is the usual catch the serial killer genre but with a slight twist of fantasy. Keith, a well-known investigator of the RIS; the Royal Investigation Service, along with the other members pursue the killings which are done by a serial killer named, B.
Ok, I might not be able to go in a chronological order so forgive my messiness. I’ll start off with the visual; the landscapes and the characters were well drawn, and I do like me some good sceneries in an anime. There was this slight gore that makes you grimace and that’s actually a compliment because it’s rather difficult to show and make the viewers feel the tension and revolting feeling. This was just the beginning though so I’m hoping to see more blood on the screen. I couldn’t help but think about L whenever I see Keith. They have so many similarities in them, I just can’t help but compare. It’ll take me a while to remember each and every character’s name, but I’ll do my best! The anime doesn’t keep you on the edge of the seat, but it does make you focus on it because there’s something going on and you don’t want to miss it.
The main protagonist, Koku, apparently is the hero; the kind that wants justice and the kind that’s luring the ultimate villain out. The characters of the crooks are still hazy for us to understand but that’s what will make us watch the next episode without thinking. I really loved the ending scene and the dialogues, and I literally clapped my hands because of the epicness I felt at the very last scene. Now, I won’t tell you what the last scene was because you must watch it for yourself! You should, and I insist because I liked it and I’m already dying to see the next episode. If it weren’t for my busy schedule I would’ve binge watched it already.
Ok, yeah, I might’ve over-exaggerated that part above since it’s too soon to conclude anything but judging by this episode, I really think you should sit down and give this anime a chance.
See you in my next post~
